Karnataka High Court Allows Judicial Staff to Write Judge Exam

Karnataka High Court Allows Judicial Staff to Write Judge Exam The Karnataka High Court has permitted judicial department employees holding law degrees to appear for the Civil Judge competitive examination. This decision comes after the initial notification for filling 90 Civil Judge posts had denied opportunities for in-service candidates within the judicial department who possessed law qualifications. Consequently, 15 judicial employees with law degrees approached the Karnataka High Court, seeking a chance to compete in the Civil Judge examination. Advocate Vaibhav Malimath represented these petitioners, who included Yogesh B, Monita S, Mahadevi Bommanagi, Shyam Rao, Gangadhar, Kiran, Nagarjun, Shankara Lingiah, Parappa Hoogar, Sudarshan, Avinash, Basavaraju Jelli, Manjunath K, Vijayalakshmi, and Preeti. Honorable Justice Krishna Kumar's single-judge bench, after hearing the arguments, accepted the plea and issued an order in IA 1/2026, allowing the petitioners to participate in the competitive examination for Civil Judge posts. The case was titled Sri Yogesh Bhadrappa and others vs State of Karnataka, Karnataka High Court, under WP: 14378/2026.
